(Washington, D.C.) – After President Obama signed the Stolen Valor Act into law today, Senator Heller issued the following statement:

“I’m pleased that President Obama signed the Stolen Valor Act into law today. The brave acts of the men and women in our military should be honored and protected. Thanks to the hard work of Rep. Heck and those who joined us in support of this issue, the recognition that these men and women earned will be preserved,” said Senator Dean Heller.

The Stolen Valor Act categorizes lying about receiving a military decoration or medal in order to profit or benefit financially as a federal crime. In February, Senator Heller and Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) introduced the Stolen Valor Act (S. 210) in the Senate. Congressman Joe Heck (NV-03) championed this issue in the House of Representatives.
