Fort Bragg’s Representative Responds to the Air Force Reserve Command’s Delay of the Deactivation of the 440th Airlift Wing

Congresswoman Renee Ellmers (R-NC-02) released the following statement after learning that the Air Force Reserve Command has pushed back deactivation of the 440th Airlift Wing until at least the fall of 2016:

“I am encouraged that the Air Force has finally seen the light. I have fought this proposal from the very beginning—meeting with senior military officials to express my vehement opposition and proposing multiple amendments to prevent closure of this Wing.”

“While I’m glad to see the Air Force has delayed deactivation, it is pivotal that we maintain pressure so they stop pursuing this destructive proposal.”

“I can promise that this isn’t the last the Air Force will be hearing from me.”
