Rep. Grayson Helps LYNX Secure $9.3 Million Federal Grant

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) –Congressman Alan Grayson (FL-09) has helped the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (better known as LYNX) secure a $9,390,860.00 federal grant through the Department of Transportation/Federal Transit Administration’s ‘Ladders of Opportunity’ initiative. The initiative is designed to better connect communities with economic opportunities.

After a competitive application process, LYNX was awarded nearly $10 million – nearly one-tenth of the total funds available under the nationwide initiative. LYNX plans to use the funding to construct a ‘SuperStop’ in Pine Hills and acquire eight additional 60-foot articulated buses, allowing LYNX to increase bus capacity on popular workday routes.

Grayson said he was happy to see LYNX, which provides public transportation services to Osceola, Orange, and Seminole counties, win funding to continue servicing the Central Florida community. “Each and every Floridian should have access to safe and efficient public transportation,” Grayson said.“This money will allow LYNX to enhance transportation services and help Central Floridians connect with economic opportunities in our area.”

Grayson has made it a priority to increase the grants awarded to agencies, municipalities, and non-profit organizations in his district. He has established a federal grants notification system, which provides constituents with information about new grant opportunities under federal agencies. Grayson also hired a grants coordinator, who helps constituents identify available grants and navigate the federal grants process.
