Dear Friends,

The Fourth of July is just around the corner! This year we will celebrate the 239th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. As we prepare to take part in Fourth of July festivities and gatherings in communities throughout Maryland, it is important to keep in mind what this special day means to our great nation. Let us take this opportunity to reflect on our progress and the work that remains in embracing our nation's diversity as we strive to become a more perfect union.

Here are just a few ways you can show your patriotism this Independence Day:
  • Celebrate history. The Fourth of July is an opportunity to commemorate the founding of our great nation and the progress we’ve made since that historic day in July. Check out these fun facts and brush up on the history of the flag to impress your friends this holiday.

  • Fireworks fun. Nothing says Fourth of July like fireworks and barbecues. Follow fireworks and grilling safety precautions to guarantee a safe celebration in your community this weekend.

  • Proudly fly your American flag. If you would like to purchase a flag that has been flown over the U.S. Capitol, please contact my office. Be sure to follow the proper flag etiquette as you display your flag.

  • Support our service members. We thank all of our service men and women throughout the world for their service and sacrifice. Please take some time this holiday to honor their dedication through one of the many ways you can support them and their families.
It is an honor and a privilege to represent Maryland’s 4th Congressional District and I wish you and your family a safe and happy 4th of July.

Sincerely,

Donna
