Folks in Delaware were hit hard by the storm this September. And many of our businesses and communities are still reeling from the damages. A Presidential Disaster Declaration will provide the necessary funding to repair our public infrastructure and property. I strongly support Governor Markell’s efforts to secure this declaration for our state. I will continue to work with him and the rest of our delegation to ensure Delaware receives the support we need to rebuild.

Gov. Jack Markell wants President Barack Obama to approve more than $2.2 million.

A big congrats to Delaware's Teacher of the Year Wendy Turner! It doesn't take much to see how passionate she is about her job! She’s a tremendous role model, and a reminder of the dedication that so many Delaware educators bring to school every day to help our children learn.

Wendy Turner, a second-grade teacher at Mount Pleasant Elementary School is state's top educator.

There are already 12 companies and 50 employees working in the brand new incubator on University of Delaware's STAR Campus. This is a model that will help bring Delaware’s economy into the 21st century. Thank you to all the partners that made it possible, including Delaware Technology Park, Delledonne & Associates, Delaware Economic Development Office, Bancroft Construction Company, and U.S. Economic Development Administration.

Just finished questioning Wells Fargo CEO John Stumpf on his company's reprehensible actions. Mr. Stumpf said that over 4,000 accounts of Delawareans may have been affected. I'm outraged by this abuse of customer trust and will continue to ensure we're holding Wells Fargo accountable.

I'm devastated to hear of the tragic fire that took two Wilmington FD lives this morning. I'm praying for the family and loved ones of these brave firefighters and the other men and women injured during this rescue. My thoughts are also with the family who lost their home this morning. I know our community will come together to help those grieving during this difficult time.

Twenty-two years ago today, the Violence Against Women Act was signed into law. Our own Vice President Biden led the charge on this monumental legislation which has since helped millions of women across our country. I was proud to cosponsor the re-authorization of this bill in 2013, extending VAWA protections further. We must continue working to ensure that every woman is guaranteed their inherent right to safety and security.

15 years ago our country was changed forever. We will never forget this day in our history, nor will we forget the heroism, bravery, and patriotism shown by so many individuals throughout the attack and its aftermath. My thoughts are with all of those who lost a loved one on this day.
