FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 14, 2013

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Donna F. Edwards (MD-4) released a statement today following President Obama’s announcement on the Affordable Care Act (ACA).

“President Obama is right to give Americans more information and choices under the Affordable Care Act. Consumers should have the option to make an informed decision whether or not to keep their previous health care plans. However, we cannot move forward in a way that threatens to drag all Americans back to the broken system that left far too many in our communities without affordable, accessible, quality health insurance.

“Like the President, I am frustrated by the rollout of the Affordable Care Act, but the law’s protections are undeniable. I remain committed to ensuring that the ACA’s long-term benefits become a reality. The nearly 800,000 Marylanders without insurance deserve quality health care coverage, and they need it now.”
