Edwards Statement On 43rd Anniversary of Roe v Wade
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Donna F. Edwards (MD-4) issued the following statement today recognizing the 43rd anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v Wade decision.
“Forty-three years ago today, the Supreme Court solidified a woman’s right to make her own reproductive choices in Roe v. Wade. Despite consistent rulings since then, we continue to see ongoing and relentless efforts to deny women their constitutionally protected right to make decisions about their own body.
“In Congress, Republicans mount legislative attacks on women’s reproductive rights on a consistent basis. At clinics and doctor’s offices across the country, protesters are physically harassing, intimidating, and terrorizing patients. It is unconscionable and it must stop. Once and for all, a woman’s family planning and reproductive choices is a matter between her, her doctor, and her family, and no one else. Today, I join with women across the country as we continue to stand together to ensure a woman’s rights are protected.
