October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and I recently attended the Symposium for a Safer Lake County to talk about our efforts to stop domestic violence and raise awareness about this issue that effects far too many families.

We’re working hard to pass a bill that I helped introduce called the Zero Tolerance for Domestic Abusers Act. Our bipartisan bill, which was endorsed by the New York Times editorial board, closes a dangerous loophole that allows domestic abusers to purchase handguns that have been shown to drastically increase the likelihood of murder.

To learn more about our efforts, please watch this week's Ask Bob video. Working together, I’m confident that we can make progress to keep families in our community safe, secure and healthy.
