As a small business owner, I know all too well that Washington and Springfield more often than not make it more difficult for local business owners and 10th District families. We’ve seen in both Washington and Springfield how out of control spending has stalled our economy and driven away jobs.

Families and small businesses all across our district are forced to meet a budget every year, and the government should have to do the same. As your representative in Congress, I'm working to create a more efficient, effective and accountable government that reduces spending and lowers taxes for families and small businesses alike.

We also must take care of those who need our help the most. That’s why I introduced a jobs bill called the Accelerating Individuals into the Workforce Act to help people who are struggling to find a job and get the skills training that they need. Our bill would create more jobs while also lowering the cost to local employers.

Here’s the bottom line: fixing this problem will require meaningful action and change - 2 things we know that Washington often does not do all that well. That’s why were tackling this problem from all angles. We're working with people on both sides of the aisle to break through gridlock in Congress, and we've worked with local leaders over the past 2 years to host 5 nonpartisan job fairs and bring hundreds of new jobs into our community by recruiting businesses to make the 10th District home.

Together, we can get our economy back on track.
