Budget-Busting EPA Rules On the Bay

Dear Granite Stater,

    Ray, the Supervisor at Dover's water treatment facility, showed me around this week. I always enjoy a trip to the Seacoast region, especially when I can help Granite Staters overcome economic and regulatory issues that affect our daily lives.

    For instance, Ray explained that the Dover plant has reduced its nitrogen discharge by 85 percent over the last few years -- an amazing environmental accomplishment -- but faces an unfunded Environmental Protection mandate requiring expensive infrastructure upgrades, which local taxpayers cannot afford. However, if they decline to fund the upgrades, the EPA will penalize their local governments.
