More on Social Security and Medicare
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) has awarded Congressman Frank Guinta its 2016 AMAC Award, one of only two awards the organization's 1.3 million members present annually to members of Congress whose work to protect Social Security and Medicare stands out.
Dear Granite Stater,
Last month's jobs report was a good one, reflecting the resilience of the American worker and small business people, who will continue to drive this country forward. Naturally, their excitement has been subdued. Year-over-year, the economy is producing fewer jobs in 2016. Economic growth is lower. In 2016, we had the lowest monthly job growth (in May) since the recession.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Each year, Congress must approve a cost-of-living increase for U.S. military veterans receiving federal benefits, a process that may delay payments. Congressman Frank Guinta voted yesterday for the Veterans Compensation COLA Act of 2016 to allow the Secretary of Veterans Affairs more discretion to make a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) to benefits.
Dear Granite Stater,
My heart goes out to the victims of terror attacks in Brussels, the latest European capital to experience widespread violence, directed at innocent civilians.
Adherents of the radical Islamic organization ISIS are claiming responsibility, indicating that their jihad against Western democracy continues, perhaps stronger than ever. Attacks in Brussels follow others in Paris and San Bernardino, a growing list of tragedies.
Dear Granite Stater,
At my town hall in Rochester last week, the country's $19 trillion debt -- while the federal government collected record taxes during the first five months of the fiscal year -- was the subject on everyone's mind.
Dear Granite Stater,
Please join me at my Seniors Town Hall in Manchester on Mondayat the Carol Rines Center on Elm Street. I'll meet you there at 3 p.m. to talk about my effort in Congress to grant Social Security beneficiaries a fully paid for cost-of-living (COLA) adjustment, after the Social Security Administration recently announced no increase for Granite State seniors next year.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Frank Guinta voted yesterday to re-authorize the Older Americans Act (S. 192). The law mostly funds grants to states, which oversee health care and employment programs for Americans 60 or older. The bill reforms many of those programs to eliminate overlap and improve performance.
MANCHESTER, NH – Congressman Frank Guinta released the following statement upon the passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House of Representatives passed a package of veterans-aimed bills yesterday, Rep. Frank Guinta joining his colleagues to support automatic cost-of-living adjustments for veterans, as well as tighter controls of Veterans Administration (VA) construction projects, prone to cost overruns.
Veterans benefit increases, tied to Social Security increases, would no longer require separate Congressional approval to take effect.
