The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) House Superintendent's Office, led by Bill Weidemeyer, is responsible for the day-to-day structural, mechanical and domestic care of the House Office Buildings. The AOC cares for 1,300 member office and committee rooms in four House Office Buildings (Cannon, Longworth, Rayburn and Ford) totaling more than 4.5 million square feet of space.
The House Superintendent's Office is comprised of a variety of skills and trades including the operation of the air conditioning, cleaning, electrical, elevator, fire/electronics, masonry, painting and refinishing, plumbing, sheet metal, subway, and wood crafting. These skilled tradespersons work behind the scenes providing services to the House that include: ensuring a safe and comfortable indoor environment; preserving historic structures; maintenance, repair, and construction; and care of office suites.
