Our Plan for the Future of Aviation
SUMMARY
On July 6, 2016, leaders of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee announced a bipartisan, bicameral agreement on a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) extension through September 30, 2017, that will provide important safety, security, and time-sensitive improvements for the U.S. aviation system.
The House Transportation Committee passed an aviation bill in February 2016 and the Senate passed a bill in April 2016.

WHAT THE BILL DOES
This bipartisan, bicameral measure provides over a year of stability for the U.S. aviation system and provides important aviation safety, security, and time-sensitive improvements for air travelers while Congress continues to develop a long-term reauthorization of the FAA.
Aviation remains a target of terrorism around the world, and this legislation strengthens the security of America’s aviation system.
