Privacy Policy and Legal Disclaimer

Thank you for visiting my website, Flake.senate.gov, and reviewing this privacy policy.  I am committed to protecting the personal privacy of individuals who use the Internet, including website visitors like you.  This policy explains how my office collects, protects, uses, maintains, and shares the information you provide when visiting Flake.senate.gov.  Your privacy is important to me: please rest assured that the information you provide through this website will be used in a manner compatible with the purpose for which you provide it.

Information Collection
This website does not collect any identifying or personal information about you (such as your name), unless you choose to provide it by, for example, sending an e-mail, requesting information, seeking assistance with a casework matter, reporting wasteful government spending, submitting feedback, signing up for news alerts and website content updates, or filing a complaint. I, in turn, can use the information you provide to contact you about a specific matter or to provide casework assistance.  The information will also be available to members of my staff, who help me in responding to your messages and requests.  Importantly, you are not required to provide your personal information for any purpose.  In some instances, however, failing to provide it might prevent me from responding to an issue you raised or providing the information you requested.

While my office does not collect personal information, the U.S. Senate does collect aggregate data about visits to Senate websites, such as statistics showing which parts of each website were visited the most.  The following information is also collected when you visit any U.S. Senate website: the domain from which you access the Senate website, the date and time of your visit, the pages you visit, and the address of the website, if any, that provided the link from which you reached the Senate site.  This information is gathered for the purpose of enabling Senate offices to improve online services.

Sharing and Disclosure
My office will use best efforts to maintain the confidentiality of any personal information you provide, and will not intentionally share such information with any individuals or outside organizations or otherwise publicly use your personal information in anyway, except when: 1) you or your representative have authorized the use of your personal information (e.g., written consent to perform casework at your request); 2) in connection with a legal proceeding or investigation; or 3) the information provided may be unlawful or where there may be a risk to health or safety.  Your personal information will not be used, sold or offered for any commercial purposes.

A Note About Casework
The Privacy Act of 1974 generally requires my office to obtain your consent in order to obtain your personal information from covered federal agencies as part of assisting you with a casework matter.  In such instances, my office will work closely with you to secure the proper consent to proceed on your behalf.

Legal Disclaimer
It is important to note that I am not your lawyer, and neither I nor members of my staff can provide you legal advice.  If you have concerns about the legal implications of disclosing any information, I strongly encourage you to seek legal advice from a licensed attorney.

Links to Other Sites
Occasionally you might find that I have published links to other websites on my page, including links to other government agencies.  If you elect to click on any of the links taking you to a location that does not include ‘senate.gov’ in the address, you will have left the Senate web server.  In such instances, you should refer to that specific site’s privacy policy to determine its policies for collecting, retaining, and using personal information.
