Law Clerkships
U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch offers law clerkships throughout the year on his Washington, DC Judiciary Committee staff. The clerkship program is designed for full-time law students with a bachelor’s degree and at least one full year of law school education. Preference is given to students who have ties to the state of Utah. Clerkships are full-time positions with a modest stipend or for academic credit.
Law clerks assist Senator Hatch and the Judiciary Committee counsels by conducting legal research and preparing legal memoranda; analyzing legal and legislative issues in preparation for hearings and committee business meetings; evaluating court decisions and legal trends; and other duties appropriate to their knowledge and skill level.

- A letter of interest
- A current resume
- Law school transcripts
- A writing sample of up to five pages
- Spring Semester: November 1st
- Summer Semester: March 1st
- Fall Semester: July 1st
