Coats: Take Steps to Boost National Economy

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.), chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, spoke on the Senate floor this week about ways the federal government can allow our national economy to grow.

“On a national level, taxes are too complex, regulations are tying the hands of job creators and the ever-growing federal debt is crowding out private sector investments,” said Coats. “To unleash our economic potential, the federal government needs to get out of the way.”

Coats outlined three steps the federal government can take to unleash the economy. He called for reducing effective tax rates, streamlining and reducing burdensome regulations and finding a solution for the growing national debt crisis.

“It doesn’t have to be this way,” said Coats. “The overtaxing, overregulating and overspending that have defined the Obama years doesn’t have to become our new normal.”
