Coats Statement on Indiana’s August Employment Numbers

WASHINGTON, DC – Joint Economic Committee Chairman Dan Coats (R-Ind.) issued the following statement regarding Indiana’s August employment numbers, which were reported today by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:

“Indiana continues to be a national leader in job creation. Today’s numbers reinforce that our state is a great place to grow a business, thanks largely to our talented Hoosier workforce. This report is also a testament to the effectiveness of pro-growth policies like simplifying the tax code, reducing burdensome regulations and balancing the state budget.” 

Details about Indiana’s August’s Employment Numbers

  • Indiana’s unemployment rate dropped 0.1 percentage points to 4.5 percent during the month of August.
  • Indiana was among the top states for employment growth over the month; employment increased by over 3,000.
