Think Swope plays too short? Think the greens aren't fast enough? No water hazards on the course?! It must be easy, right? Nope...If you're lucky enough to have your ball come to rest on a flat lie, after keeping your tee-shot from rolling off the fairway and behind the hundred year old trees, you will generally be hitting your shot blind and/or to an elevated green surrounded by potential triple bogey threats. Many good golfers can be found muttering to themselves in disgust as the game that gets them around their usual tracks comes up woefully short on the rolling hills, uneven lies and insidiously placed lures at Swope Memorial. By the way, it's a Tillinghast design, so, yeah... legendary.
