Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) welcomed Nicholas Owens, the National Ombudsman for the Small Business Administration, to a business luncheon regarding small business community concerns.  Issues addressed during this meeting included the impact of the economic stimulus package on small businesses and how to brace for a possible recession.

"This was an excellent opportunity to have a thorough discussion on the important issues that have a direct impact on America’s small businesses. I was particularly pleased to speak with Nicholas Owens and to hear his firsthand knowledge of the regulatory challenges and the economic environment our small businesses are facing. He has an extensive history of working with small business communities all across the nation. His insights today will help our local economy remain prosperous in the future.

"As the SBA’s National Ombudsman, Mr. Owens is empowered to receive, substantiate, and report to Congress any complaints and comments from the small business community. In essence, he serves as a ‘trouble shooter’ between small businesses and federal agencies. He has led the effort on behalf of the nation’s small businesses to ensure fairness in the enforcement of federal regulations. Also, he has led initiatives to diminish disputes between small business and federal regulatory agencies. Mr. Owens’ presence here today speaks volumes about the importance the Colorado Springs small business community has on our nation’s economy." – Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)
