Rothfus Votes to Approve Keystone XL Pipeline

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Keith Rothfus [PA-12] released the following statement after voting for H.R. 5682, a bill to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline:

"We can add family-sustaining jobs, lower energy prices, and get our economy booming again by safely and responsibly developing all of our plentiful energy resources,” said Rothfus.

“A key part of this effort is building energy infrastructure like Keystone XL. This private sector pipeline is an important step towards achieving North American energy independence.

“It is time that Washington stopped its obstruction and allowed construction to begin on the Keystone XL Pipeline. The House previously passed legislation approving Keystone XL on May 22, 2013 to break the logjam, but Harry Reid’s Senate did not act. The Senate is finally slated to vote next week after years of delay.”

More than six years have passed since TransCanada, the pipeline company, filed applications with the U.S. Department of State to construct the Keystone XL Pipeline.
