Congressional Internships

A congressional internship is a great way to learn more about the federal government, the legislative process, and everything that we do to help constituents. I’ve enjoyed working with the many bright young men and women who have interned in our offices. Our interns have done great work to help me represent and serve my employers – the 705,000 residents of Pennsylvania’s Twelfth Congressional District. - Keith

Internships are offered in Congressman Rothfus’s Western Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. offices during the spring, summer, and fall semesters. Hours can be flexible to accommodate student course schedules, but generally run 8:30AM – 6:00PM. Internships are unpaid but academic credit may be available, depending on the student’s academic institution.

Students are asked to submit the completed application, resume, cover letter, and a brief writing sample (no longer than five pages) to the office where they would like to intern. Students may also email completed applications to pa12.interns@mail.house.gov.

Washington, D.C. Internship Application Deadlines:
Fall – July 14
Spring – October 28
Summer – March 1

Applications for internships at the Ross Township, Johnstown, and Beaver offices are accepted on a rolling basis.
