Lincoln Journal Star: Fortenberry town hall touches hot buttons

Rep. Jeff Fortenberry engaged Monday in a spirited conversation with constituents on hot-button topics including immigration, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Gaza and global warming.

About 200 people showed up for the town hall meeting at Lincoln Southwest High School.

Fortenberry said the United States needs to blend compassion with the need for border security and adherence to immigration law in dealing with the tens of thousands of children from Central America who recently have poured across the southern border unaccompanied by parents.
