McAllister Welcomes 5th District Students Participating in the 2014 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour Program

WASHINGTON, D.C.– U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister (R-Swartz) met with five 5th District students who are visiting Washington, DC this week to take part in the 2014 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour program.

This annual trip, sponsored by the Association of Louisiana Electric Cooperatives, provides outstanding young people from Louisiana an opportunity to visit our nation’s capital. Each student was selected by community judges on a competitive basis that included interviews and essay contests in their schools.

McAllister said he enjoyed meeting with students from his congressional district during their visit to Washington, DC.

“It’s fulfilling to see these students take an interest in how Congress operates and to lobby representatives from their home state on energy policy which will have a direct impact on their local electric co-ops,”said McAllister. “Young Americans should utilize every available resource to learn more about the federal government.”
