Colorado Still Struggling with High Unemployment

Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05) released the following statement following the release of the March unemployment numbers by the Colorado Department of Labor. Unemployment remains at 8.2 percent, unchanged from the previous month.

"I was disappointed by the latest unemployment numbers for the 5th Congressional District. President Obama and the Democrats in the Senate have failed the job seekers of this country.

"Their ruinous economic policies and legislative obstructionism have prevented hard-working Americans from returning to the labor force.

"One such example is the refusal to bring my energy legislation, H.R. 3408 to the Senate floor for a vote. H.R. 3408 passed the House in February with bipartisan support. It would open up oil shale in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. It would allow portions of the outer-continental shelf and Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to be opened for energy exploration. It would also create a path forward for the Keystone pipeline.

"This bill, along with dozens more stalled in the Senate, would create countless jobs across the country.

"I will continue to support and fight for good legislation that creates a better economic and regulatory climate for the job creators of this nation."-- Congressman Doug Lamborn (CO-05)

Note: Today the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office released an analysis confirming that President Obama's irresponsible budget proposal will stifle long-term economic growth and job creation. You can read the full CBO report on the impact of the president’s budget proposal here.
