Congressional Art Competition

Overview

Every year, the U.S. House of Representatives sponsors a Congressional Art Competition for high school students across our nation. The annual competition provides an opportunity for students to exhibit their artwork and receive national recognition. It also demonstrates the important role that the arts play in American society.

In the past, more than 200 congressional offices have participated in the program. The first place winning entry from each congressional district will be displayed in the corridor tunnel leading to the U.S. Capitol Building for one year, where it will be seen by thousands of people.

Students compete in local art competitions held in their Member's district.

The 2014 competition has ended, but information on the 2015 Congressional Arts Competition will be sent to all high schools in the 16th District in the early Spring. Although submission deadlines vary each year, is generally helpful to receive entries before the end of April. The competition is open to all high school students in the 16th District.
