McMorris Rodgers and House Republicans Unveil "Pledge to America"

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05), Vice Chair of the House Republican Conference, joined other House Republican leaders at a small business in Sterling, Virginia today for the unveiling of the “Pledge to America” - a new governing agenda for the 111th Congress.

The “Pledge” (which can be read here) is the culmination of a months-long process of engagement with the American people through the America Speaking Out initiatives and focuses on the top priorities of the nation - including jobs, spending, health care, government reform, and national security.  Rep. McMorris Rodgers used the ASO website to reach out to people who were concerned about Washington’s endless series of bailouts and hosted an ASO town hall in Spokane last month.

“I proudly take this ‘Pledge to America’ which is grounded in the best ideals, values, and goals of the American people – ‘smaller, smarter government,’ fiscal accountability, free market solutions to create jobs, and keeping the American Dream alive for the next generation,” said Rep. McMorris Rodgers.  “The Pledge shows that House Republicans are listening to the American people and it will bring change – real change – to Washington, D.C.”

“President Obama and Speaker Pelosi are not listening to the people; their ‘spend, borrow, and bailout’ policies have failed; we need a new direction based on the free enterprise system; we need to create a favorable economic climate to give businesses the confidence to grow and create jobs.”

“Inspired by the passion and renewed civic involvement of the American people, House Republicans are eager to enact the ‘Pledge to America’ and get America back on track.”
