(KNZA)--Dissatisfied with the answers recevied. That's the reaction of United States Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins, following a near four hour House Ways and Means Committee hearing Friday, focused on the ongoing IRS scandal.

The controversy began when the IRS admitted that groups which included “Tea Party” or “patriot” in their names, seeking tax exempt status, received added scrutiny, leading to long waits before those groups received any communication from the agency.

The investigation into the matter continues to pick up steam, with Jenkins, who serves on the
committee, grilling IRS Commissioner Steven Miller during the hearing.

The Kansas Republican says “I don't know” was a common answer from Commissioner Miller during the hearing, and says that's not satisfactory.

Miller maintained, during the hearing, that the extra scrutiny for the targeted groups was not motivated by partisanship, but were foolish mistakes by people trying to be more efficient.

J. Russell George, inspector general for the Treasury Department's tax administration, also testified. He stated that the IRS improperly asked some groups for lists of their donors, along with other unreasonable requests.

Some of the scrutinized groups claim that the IRS also found fault if the United States Constitution
was mentioned in their applications.

In some cases, applications were not responded to for up to three years, leaving many to simply
withdraw their requests.
