It is my distinct pleasure to be a sponsor of the annual Congressional Art Competition for high school art students in the 7th Congressional District. This is a nationwide competition coordinated by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

In early spring, my office contacts each high school in the district. Each school is asked to submit one piece of artwork to my District office. The entries will be judged, and the winning piece will be sent to Washington, D.C. for display in the annual exhibition in the U.S. Capitol Complex. The winning student is invited to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Washington, D.C. in June.

This event is a wonderful opportunity for students to be recognized for their creative talents. Please refer to the guidelines for complete entry details. Students who have questions about the competition should contact their art teachers.

This year's Congressional Art Competition winner, "Riding the Texas Range," by Memorial High School's Seoyoung Kim, is pictured. Seoyoung's painting will hang in the US Capitol for one year.
