Luján to Hold Conference Call with Education Professionals in Advance of Recovery Vote
Recovery Bill Could Help Modernize Schools and Protect Teaching Jobs in New Mexico
Washington, DC -Today, Rep. Ben Ray Luján will hold a conference call with education professionals. During the call, Rep. Luján will discuss school modernization projects, funding for state services and other infrastructure projects that will benefit schools in the upcoming economic recovery bill and beyond. Education professionals on the call will include leaders from the New Mexico National Education Association, American Federation of Teachers and local teachers and administrators.
"The recovery package includes important components that will help modernize schools and provide teachers with some much-needed security," said Luján. "We must make sure that our students can get a good education to prepare them for the jobs of the future, and the recovery package will help us achieve this goal. I look forward to an ongoing discussion with teachers and education professionals about the recovery package and the work we must do to help our children achieve their goals."
The economic recovery plan will provide over $300 million dollars to New Mexico's schools for modernization and improvements in education. It also provides funding for Pell Grants, which help students with the increasing cost of college.
