AMENDMENT DESCRIPTION:
Amendment restates language contained in the bill and establishes congressional policy concerning homosexuality in the armed forces.
AMENDMENT PURPOSE:
An amendment to retain the provisions contained in the bill, which would codify the "don't ask, don't tell" policy with regard to gays in the military. The language of the amendment is identical to the provisions adopted by the Senate.
