Since the propane crisis began, Sen. Franken has made it a priority to get relief to Minnesotans. He worked with Governor Dayton to urge President Obama to review all available options to bring propane to the Midwest, he has directly discussed the issue with Department of Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, urging him to help address the crisis as soon as possible. Sen. Franken also sent a letter to railway companies BNSF and Canadian Pacific, asking them to bolster propane shipments to the Midwest.

Sen. Franken successfully convinced the Administration to use its authority to open up a key pipeline, to boost its propane shipments to the Midwest. The Enterprise TE Products Pipeline Company will temporarily provide priority treatment to propane shipments from Texas to the Midwest.

The State of Minnesota has established a one-stop information center for people affected by the propane shortage. You may find more information here: https://dps.mn.gov/divisions/hsem/seoc/Pages/propane-shortage.aspx
