REP. MALONEY STATEMENT ON 36th ANNIVERSARY OF ROE v. WADE DECISION

WASHINGTON, DC—Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) issued this statement upon the 36th Anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision.

“Today, on the 36th anniversary of the Supreme Court's landmark Roe v. Wade decision and the second day of the Obama administration, reproductive rights advocates have reason to celebrate,” she said.

"After eight years of an administration that aggressively reduced access to family planning services both domestically and overseas, it's a relief to have a President who believes in family planning services help women access the contraceptives they need, receive the education to make informed decisions, and protect their rights to make their own decisions about their own bodies-- and will stand firm in defending all of the privacy rights as outlined in Roe," Rep. Maloney concluded.
