Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), member (and former Chair) of the Joint Economic Committee, issued the following statement regarding the April employment numbers released today:

"Today's report of 115,000 jobs added in April and a slight drop in the unemployment rate to 8.1%, extending the monthly track record to 26 straight months of job growth. While welcome, the economy is not creating jobs quickly enough, and Congress needs to get to work.

"Republican House leadership should bring the Senate transportation bill-- the bipartisan Senate transportation bill-- to the floor and pass it, and help put more than 2 million Americans to work by rehabilitating America's transportation infrastructure."
