Ellmers Announces RWPC Policy Partnership with AEI

WASHINGTON – Republican Women's Policy Committee (RWPC) Chairwoman Renee Ellmers released the following statement today after announcing the committee's policy partnership with the American Enterprise Institute this morning:

"I'm thrilled to announce today that beginning next year, the Republican Women's Policy Committee will be working with the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) to generate sound policies that promote free enterprise and freedom throughout the world. AEI scholars will help guide our members and staff through many of the pressing issues facing our country and Congress. AEI is committed to working with the committee and offering invaluable data that will help guide our Members through the complex environment of public opinion and policy challenges. We are very excited to see this partnership grow in 2014 and beyond."

In a profile piece yesterday on AEI President Arthur Brooks, Roll Call reported on the new partnership with the RWPC:

There’s a new interest in expanding the GOP base, which necessitates building a reputation of a more inclusive Republican Party. Brooks is all about that, and he’s caught the eye of Rep. Renee Ellmers of North Carolina, who is also looking to change the party from within.

“His perspective is from a real, scientific research-based perspective of how people listen to an emotional message before they can grasp the facts of the situation and how [Republicans] really should be doing a better job that way,” said Ellmers, the chairwoman of the Republican Women’s Policy Committee.

As part of her effort to make the GOP more palatable to women in an election year, Ellmers arranged for the AEI to be a partner of the RWPC beginning in early 2014. The think tank will meet regularly with the committee, offering targeted policy analyses, messaging strategies and polling data.
