Genocide in Sudan

Hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians have died and millions have been displaced because of the conflict in Darfur. As a member of the House Sudan Caucus, I have joined with many of my colleagues in efforts to end the violence in this region and to provide assistance to the victims of the warfare. We must do everything possible to end this horrific genocide.

July 31, 2007: Joined a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon urging him to designate sufficient personnel and resources to achieve objectives in Darfur.

January 30, 2008: Joined a letter to President Bush urging a strengthened diplomatic commitment to restore stability to Sudan and surrounding region.

February 4, 2008: Joined a letter to President Hu of China pressing for greater action to address the genocide in Darfur, Sudan

June 13, 2008: Joined a letter to Secretary Rice urging continued funding for the humanitarian air service in Sudan.

July 29, 2008: Joined a letter to President Bush regarding China’s violation of the small arms embargo in Sudan.
