BISHOP INVITES STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN 2013 CONGRESSIONAL ART COMPETITION

ALBANY, GA – Today, Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr. (GA-02) invited high school students from Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District to participate in the 2013 Congressional Art Competition.

“I have long believed that in our area of Georgia, we have some of the best, the brightest, the most creative, and the most talented young people in the world,” said Congressman Bishop. “The Congressional Art Competition is an excellent medium through which we can channel the creativity and imagination of young students across the nation, promote art education, and give recognition to the outstanding work that our schools are doing to enable young people to realize their potential.”

The winner of this year’s competition will have his or her artwork displayed for one year in the Cannon Tunnel, a busy underground walkway to the U.S. Capitol from the House office buildings. The winner will also be invited to join Congressman Bishop at a national awards reception in Washington, D.C. in May.

All artwork must be submitted to the Albany District Office at 235 West Roosevelt Avenue, Suite 114 no later than Friday, April 26, 2013 at 5:00 pm. The official competition rules can be found here.
