Press Release
Fairhope, AL – May 16, 2014 – Today, Representative Bradley Byrne (AL-1) announced a series of three grants that were awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) earlier this month for airport facilities in Baldwin and Escambia Counties.
- Fairhope: $1,080,000 for H.L. (Sonny) Callahan Airport to construct an apron and taxiway.
- Gulf Shores: $163,800 for Jack Edwards Airport to install weather reporting equipment and update the Airport Master Plan Study.
- Brewton: $48,150 for Brewton Municipal Airport to improve airport drainage.
Byrne said: “A strong network of local and municipal airports is important to competitiveness and job growth. In Southwest Alabama, we have great aviation facilities, but we still have work to do in their maintenance and upkeep. These grants will go a long way toward making sure our aviation infrastructure in Southwest Alabama is able to handle the demand for business in our area.”
