McCarthy Statement on Senate Votes

Mar 9, 2011
Press Release

Washington D.C. – Congressman Kevin McCarthy issued the following statement regarding the votes on the Continuing Resolution in the Senate:

"It is time for Congress to get serious about tightening its belt and managing its budget, just like families across the country do each month. Senate Democrats have shown time and time again that they refuse to meet this challenge, and the Obama Administration has been largely absent from the debate, as they continue to side with record deficit spending over common-sense solutions.

"There are only two paths we can take as a country: the Democrat plan that continues spending at current inflated rates and puts our economic stability at grave risk, or the responsible path House Republicans proposed in our budget measure that rolls back spending to pre-stimulus, pre-bailout levels. The American people sent us to Washington to lead and to get people back to work. House Republicans will continue to offer policy options that get people working by removing economic uncertainty and putting us back on a path to prosperity."
