“The American people are entitled to a competent Attorney General that applies the law equally irrespective of party membership, race or legal status”

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Congressman Paul A. Gosar, D.D.S. (AZ-04) released the following statement after the White House announced on Friday evening President Obama’s intent to nominate Loretta Lynch to be the next Attorney General of the United States:

“Following in the footsteps of one of the most lawless Attorney Generals of all time, Eric Holder's potential successor has her work cut out to regain the faith of the American people. From the cover-up of Operation Fast and Furious to the illegal targeting of innocent Americans by the IRS, the fundamental trust between the American people and the country’s top law enforcement officer has never been worse.

“This mistrust has made Americans fearful of a government class that is not held accountable to the same laws they mandate for everyone else. In order to instill confidence in the rule of law it is vitally important that the next Attorney General adhere to and uphold the entire Constitution and not pick and choose which laws to enforce based upon partisan, ideological beliefs.”
