Cannon Renewal Project

The Cannon House Office Building, the oldest Congressional office building outside of the Capitol Building, is in need of a complete renewal.

The century-old building is plagued with serious safety, health, environmental and operational issues that are rapidly worsening. Without action, the essential systems housed behind the walls and in mechanical rooms will continue to crumble and fail, impacting Members, staff and constituents.

Phase 0: Building Utilities, Jan. 2015-Dec. 2016Update: October 2014

Beginning November 3, members, staff and visitors who typically use the sidewalk on the east side of New Jersey Avenue SE or the north side of C Street SE will need to use the opposite sides of those streets or alternate routes. The accessible entrance on New Jersey Avenue SE will remain open.
