CBC Chair Marcia L. Fudge to Travel with President Obama for Farm Bill Signing

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chair Marcia L. Fudge (OH-11) will travel with President Barack Obama to Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan to attend the signing of the Agricultural Act of 2014 (The Farm Bill) into law. In October 2013, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi appointed Chair Fudge to serve as Leader’s Representative on the conference committee for the Farm Bill.

Chair Fudge, who also serves as Ranking Member of the Agriculture Subcommittee on Department Operations, Oversight and Nutrition, has been a fervent opponent against deep cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Chair Fudge has also worked to expand access to healthy food and investments in underserved communities and to ensure protection of sound conservation and agricultural policies.

“The Farm Bill Conference Committee worked through immense differences to reach what I believe is a fair and balanced agreement,” Chair Fudge said. “I am honored to see this effort to completion with the President’s signature.”

President Obama will deliver remarks and sign the Farm Bill at Michigan State University’s Mary Anne McPhail Equine Performance Center at 2:10pm ET. The President's remarks will be available via live-stream at www.whitehouse.gov/live.
