Spring Congressional Black Caucus Science and Technology Brain Trust - Expanding Monitory Participation in Science
On Friday, April 25 2014 Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson will host the first spring edition of the annual Congressional Black Caucus, Science and Technology Brain Trust during the 2014 U.S. News STEM Solutions National Leadership Conference. The theme of this year’s Brain Trust will be “Expanding Minority Participation in Science.”
This dynamic Brain Trust and panel will be a part of the larger STEM solutions conference which is expected to draw tens of thousands of STEM professionals, entrepreneurs, and educators from around the world. Congresswoman Johnson’s CBC Brain Trust will host hundreds of local high school students, STEM educators from across America, and accomplished scientists in a dialogue on how to combat the declining achievements of American minority students in the fields of science, engineering, and math.
The Congressional Black Caucus Science and Technology Brain Trust was founded over two decades ago by Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson to identify strategies to broaden participation in the sciences and to inspire minority youth to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The Brain Trust brings together celebrities, community leaders, and mentors to achieve this goal.
