Eric Cobar - Graduate

A desire to continue his education led Eric Cobar to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. He served his country for seven years as a Crew Chief on the KC-10 aircraft, during which time he deployed twice to the United Arab Emirates in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

While attending a veterans’ career fair in Philadelphia, Cobar met the Director of the House Wounded Warrior Program and applied for a fellowship.  Shortly thereafter, Cobar was selected for assignment to the Springfield, PA office of Congressman Pat Meehan.

As a veterans case worker, Cobar handles 75-80 cases at any given time. He also conducts outreach in the community and attends numerous events related to assisting veterans. His says he enjoys his work the most when he is able to obtain long overdue compensation awards for a veterans in need or a medal that had been earned but was never awarded.

“This has been an enlightening experience," Cobar says of his fellowship, "to learn how the benefits process works and how to help deserving veterans navigate the system.”

Just prior to completing his fellowship Cobar accepted a position with the Department of Veterans Affairs where he will continue in the veterans' advocacy arena.
