WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman George Holding released a statement following House passage of a Continuing Resolution to defund Obamacare:

 

“I came to Congress to cut spending – and that is why I supported the Continuing Resolution to defund Obamacare. The President’s healthcare law is unworkable and its implementation will have devastating effects on American families. It will raise premiums and taxes, and kill jobs and small businesses. I believe defunding and dismantling Obamacare is vital to getting our economy back on a sustainable course.

 

This is not to say that Continuing Resolutions should be the norm. Continuing Resolutions are by their nature a short-term solution to a long-term problem, which is not a solution at all. That’s why I believe we should spend these next two months going through a regular budgetary process. Congress should go through line-by-line and pass each one of the 12 appropriations bills that reduce spending. It will not be easy, but Congress needs to make targeting spending cuts and address wasteful and duplicative spending. Sacrifices will have to be made, but the tough calls are necessary – we simply cannot continue at our current spending rate.”
