FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 13, 2014

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Donna F. Edwards (MD-4) released the following statement after Congressman George Miller (CA-11) announced his retirement.

“For forty years, George Miller has been a champion for working families as a brilliant legislator, strong leader, and compassionate Congressman. He has been a good friend, mentor, and colleague. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with him on child health and nutrition through the Afterschool Suppers Program, and on income inequality by fighting to raise the minimum wage. His creative, insightful approach to writing legislation will be sorely missed.

“I join many of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in congratulating George Miller on his wonderful tenure in Congress, and in wishing him and his family many well-deserved years of happiness.”
