This project will advance completion of the FDA consolidation at White Oak, MD.  The consolidation will result in greatly improved facilities and significant operating efficiencies, enabling the FDA to better regulate the drug and medical device industry and protect the health of all Americans. The project will result in 9,000 permanent jobs for Montgomery County, more than twice the number on the site before the Navy left in 1995.  The requested FY 2011 funding will provide 2,883 FDA jobs and will maintain over 1,000 construction jobs on the site through 2012.
