Results for You and Your Community
1/24/11As a Representative, my job is to listen to your concerns, understand your views on issues, and work to find solutions. I recently sent out my annual report on the various ways I have been active on your behalf this past year.
The report includes some examples of how I have been working with and for residents across Central New Jersey. It shows some of the various things a Congressional Representative can do. I also have created an interactive map on my website that helps you see more examples of ways Im working for you whether by securing funding for a road improvement project in Plainsboro, assisting an Old Bridge man who had trouble processing his Medicare claims, helping to write the college affordability law that invests in community colleges like Brookdale, or acquiring an American flag flown over the Capitol for a Frenchtown couple. NJ Benefiting from Health Reform
Since health reform was enacted last year, children with pre-existing conditions are no longer being denied coverage, young people are staying on their parents insurance plans up to age 26, pregnant women and cancer patients are protected from insurance company discrimination, small businesses are receiving tax credits for providing coverage to employees, and seniors are paying less for their prescription drugs.
No law is perfect and I will continue to listen to you to find ways to strengthen this law. For instance, I am working to remove the burdensome 1099 requirement for small businesses (I have voted twice to remove that part of the law) and working to make sure that retirees can add their adult children to their health plans.
What we shouldnt do is repeal, wholesale, the law. Unfortunately that was one of the first acts of the new majority of the House. I think this was a mistake. Instead of focusing on job creation, retirement security or tax relief, last week the House debated repealing a law that protects Americans from insurance company abuses and provides fairer and more accessible health care for children, veterans, seniors, employees, and employers. Click here to read more about how New Jersey families, seniors, and small businesses are benefiting from the reform law.
