Congresswoman Jenkins visiting Meng Dairy in Troy.
Growing up on a family dairy farm outside of Holton, I saw first-hand the benefits and challenges of rural life. Representing the interests of agricultural producers is a responsibility I take very seriously.
Farmers and ranchers in the Second District produce the safest and most abundant food supply in the world. It is important that they have fair and predictable farm programs that provide a strong safety net under them.
The challenges facing farmers and ranchers are many, ranging from tax issues and environmental regulation to volatile markets and a shrinking number of young people returning to production agriculture. I am committed to supporting the agriculture industry so that we are able to produce a safe and abundant food and fiber supply here at home and not be reliant on foreign nations like we are for our energy.
