The idea of ACA is to close the gap between uninsured and insured. You see, all the uninsured were stressing the system that used to be in place. They would just show up to the emergency and get treatments they couldn't afford to pay, then the weight of the loss money was getting put on insured people to cover the deficit, which is not fair. So ACA came along, to allow uninsured people to buy insurance and be responsible so that we all contribute to lower the cost of medical bills. Now the way it is right, it is very expensive. That's why the government recognizes that not everyone can afford it, unless there are tax credits for certain household income threshold. So let's be responsible Americans. Do your part and no one would be paying for someone else medical bills. The is fairer that way.
