More Than 1,000 Kansans Attend Jobs Fair

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins today hosted a jobs fair at the Kansas Expocenter in Topeka to connect Kansans looking for work with local businesses.

“Many Kansans are unemployed or underemployed and struggling to find good jobs. Today, I was honored to be able to connect more than 1,000 folks looking for jobs with employers who are hiring,” Jenkins said. “It was clear today there are jobs open in our state, and it is a matter of connecting the folks looking with the employers looking to fill those positions.”

Congresswoman Jenkins and her staff invited local businesses and other employers from the surrounding area to participate in this jobs fair. More than 60 employers offering nearly 450 jobs were represented at the fair. Employers representing retail, manufacturing and service industries, health care and not-for-profit organizations, cities and universities and financial service providers were present at the jobs fair.

Congresswoman Jenkins continued, “Today’s fair was a great success, and it would not have been possible without such wonderful support from the local community. Rather than waiting for Washington to propose more big government programs, I’d rather take action and help my constituents find local jobs now.”
